Formulas

Rectangle = length × width
Circle = π × (diameter ÷ 2)²
Triangle = base × height ÷ 2

Measurements in feet and inches? Divide the inches by 12 first: 10 ft 6 in is 10.5 ft. Carpet and some flooring are priced per square yard, which is 9 sq ft. An acre is 43,560 sq ft.

For flooring, add 5–10 % for cuts. Use 15 % for diagonal layouts or patterned tile.
