Paver Calculator
Enter the patio size and the paver size. You get the number of pavers with cutting waste, and the base and sand to go under them.

Pavers per square foot
| Paver size | Per sq ft | 100 sq ft (+5 %) |
|---|---|---|
| 4 × 8 in (brick) | 4.50 | 473 |
| 6 × 6 in | 4.00 | 420 |
| 6 × 9 in | 2.67 | 280 |
| 12 × 12 in | 1.00 | 105 |
| 16 × 16 in | 0.56 | 60 |
| 24 × 24 in | 0.25 | 27 |
The math
Pavers = area ÷ (paver length × width ÷ 144) × (1 + waste)
Base and sand (yd³) = area × depth (in) ÷ 12 ÷ 27
The count uses the paver's face size. Joints are only about ⅛ in wide, so they make little difference. Most pavers are sold by the square foot or by the pallet, so check the coverage the manufacturer gives for your paver.
Base and sand
Walkways and patios usually get 4–6 in of compacted crushed stone under 1 in of concrete sand. Driveways need 8–12 in of base. On clay or wet ground, use the deeper end of the range and lay a geotextile under the base.
Order 10–20 % more base gravel than calculated, because it compacts.
